....I have a couple of questions. I can't seem to find my last post so I will have to start again. I have been working on this motor (4206S) for a few months now. Bought at a garage sale. I have received some great advice on this site and have solved most of my problems as a result. Thanks to all.

I just need some clarification. When converting the head bolt torque values to foot/pounds from inch/ pounds (as per Seloc 60-80 inch/lbs)) I get a figure of around 6. Is this all that they are to be tightened (torque wrench is only in ft/lbs)....doesn't seem right??

And the compression problem I was having seems to be corrected (stuck rings) Numbers are now

60- PSI #1
50 PSI #2

from, I believe, 70/40

are these #'s okay?

Thanks again

6 ft/lbs is correct. Note that most 100 or 150ft/lb torque wrenches are very inaccurate down that low, and why the reading is in inch/lbs. You really need an inch/lb reading wrench in addition to the ft/lb wrench unless your ft/lb is very good (>$100).

That sounds about right for the compression. The loss could be due to dry cylinder walls or the thicker gaskets they're selling for these now. I had the same issue with the aftermarket head gasket. Hopefully that 50 one will come up a bit after some use.

Great Paul. Thanks again

I'll go out and get an in./lb. torque wrench (bonus here - wife is away!).

It will save me some grief down the road as I have a few more to work on after this.......
