4 little studs with new manifolds

I put new manifolds and risers on my 1997 5.7lx alpha 1 engine last weekend. Everything went well. The manifolds and risers were OE mercruiser, and with each of the manifolds came 4 studs. Any idea what they were for? I figured it was to accomodate different instalations, but I figured I better ask.

I think its for a easy install install studs slide on manifold

Thats kinda what I figured. Mine origionally had little bolds, so I just re-used them. <br /><br />-
