4-stroke general maintenance

i will soon own a 2002 yamaha f225. approx 240 hrs.<br /><br />first 4-stroke ever.<br /><br />what are the general maintenance activites for these engines? i assume lu oil each year, and water pump every other year. oil and filter change at some sort of interval. but what else?<br /><br />i feel stupid, but do you decarb? do you fog it like a 2-stroke?<br /><br />thanks-

Get the book, Mattttt. Do what and when it says.<br /><br />I wouldn't decarb or fog a 4 stroke unless my book said to do it.<br /><br />Good luck. and welcome to the 4 strokers. :)

jb- i will get the book, no doubt. i was asking more so that i'm a little educated when i water test the boat. i'll receive the service records at that time and have them print the engine history. i just want to ask the right questions as well.<br /><br />i don't want to buy the manual until after the sale is complete.

Add these to what you normally do to a 2 stroke...<br />Valve adjustments<br />Timing belt check/replace<br />Check oil before starting
