rectifier converts ac to dc current and sends a
couple extra volts to battery for charging...
but you don't have a battery??? also sends a
signal to the tach. do you have a tach?
lil puzzled here... maybe a pro. can answer this one.
good luck,
M.Y.

Sorry, I had the rectifier installed so that the motor would keep a charge on the batt. so that I could run my depth finder,GPS,lights, etc. and not have to keep putting a batt. charger on the batt.
But the rectifier looks like it got hot and melted some. What I would like to know is how can I run some test to find out what caused this to happen. Thanx Ahead of time.

Easiest way to destroy your rectifier is to hook the battery up backwards.

TMD

If your battery is low, and puts a big draw on power generated by your stator, something is going to cook without a regulator. I would say that you are lucky you haven't fried your stator yet.

OK so I need to get a new rectifier and a regulator. How can I check to see if my stator is damaged. The motor runs fine. Thanks for the help.
