40 HP Mercury Tilt / Trim Bypassing Fluid

40 HP Mercury tilt and trim works but if it is tilted up and you hit the throttle it will trim down by itself. Once it is down it will trim up enough to plain ou the boat but gets to a point and stops. It tilted up, I can push motor down with my hands. It is tough but can be done. Is this a feature of this motor, an over trim safety or do I have problems starting?

sounds like you have a leaking piston seal or check valve.
