40 hp rude

hi all lookin at a 40 253e looks like a 72? also looks alot my 77 25hp fairly easy to understand. does anyone have one of these/how do u like it? long shaft for $250 Deal???

Well I sold and serviced them when they were new. They were a very good motor and a good value. They were simple and straightforward. Still had the OMC Universal Magneto, non-thermostat cooling, one simple carburetor, Snap-shift lower unit, Good power to weight, still had the spline seal on the drive shaft, etc. I like them.

It actually is a resurrection of the Gale 40hp which was discontinued in 1963. The Evinrude 33 is also related.

thanx for the info FR I do like simple.. looks like 72 is the only year for these??

1971 through 1976. There were a few changes over those years, but the similarity remains.

Also, the name was changed from Ski Twin to Norseman. Possibly because of confusion over the older 33hp Ski Twin.

The 35hp replaced it. A more modern engine.

well no go on the 40 it looked alittle rough plus it wasn't or had no tiller
