401 evinrude still won't go full speed

Hi I have a 1971 40 hp evinrude 401 530 compression 99 and 110 have good spark cleaned carburetor let it soak over night blew every orifice with my air compressor only goes up to 1500 rpms what else can I do please help fuel pump is good idk what else to do I have slow speed at 1 1\2 turns from seated and 3/4 on the high speed

Somehow I think that you are only running on one cylinder. How did you check the spark?

Remove one spark plug wire and ground it to the block, and see how it runs. Do the same with the other one. Chances are it won't make any difference with one of them grounded, but won't run at all with the other one grounded. That is the good one.

Checking spark across the grounded plug gaps is next to meaningless. I has to be able to jump a gap far wider than that in open air if it is going to be able to jump it under compression.

Speaking of compression, have you checked it? It won't run on both if one has little or no compression.

Compression was 99 on the bottom one and 110 on the top one i believe do i need to get an inline spark test?

So i just went to Napa and bought a adjustable ignition tester it has four options se, 20, 30, and 40 which one do i need to set on to test?

Lame so anyways ordering new coil was wondering if i should go ahead and replace the two condensers?
