You'd need a 40 amp flywheel, and a flywheel cover. Total stack is about an inch higher than the 16 amp setup.

I did it with an XR4, only I went with the dual 20 amp system.

hope it helps

Thanks for the reply John.

I shall have a look, I have a feeling parts may be hard to come across in the UK...

Is there any benefit or reasons to using the dual 20A setup?

You will need a flywheel, stator ,rectifier/s and rear exhaust plate and coil mounting plate. The flywheel link you posted cannot tell as it does not have a side view, the stator posted is for the water cooled 2 wire system and rectifier for it is $$$.The rectifier posted is for a 90 hp and doubt it will work. The dual system is better as you can split system and charge extra battery/s of one and starting battery and assy's of other.

What kinda cowl do you have?......If its clam shell, they won't work.

Oh really I did wonder that but I had yet to measure. Yes its a two part, clamshell I guess.

I don't think its going to be worth all this effort by the sounds of it.

Probably so! with clam shell you simply can't fit either (water cooled or dry) 40 amp system under them............D

Hmm ok, well I do have a tiny 12v honda genny if I ever do find out i need more current, which to be honest I hope that what it already has will be enough. I just wanted to install some more redundancy on the battery side of things :)

The flywheel will fit, but the flywheel cover won't. I don't see it as being a hazard if yer smart enough to stay away from the flywheel when the cover's off. You have to set the flywheel cover on to time the engine.

For the dual 20 system, I was able to fashion an aluminum plate for the regulators that mounted where the "advance" module used to live. Like fast said, I split the system between the starting and trolling batteries.

hope it helps
