40hp 4cyl 2 stroke - Internal fuel lines

Hello all

ive got a 91 2stroke 40hp 4cyl Merc and wondering if anyone here knows the gauge of the internal fuel lines . The ones that link up the carbs and link the fuel pump to fuel filter etc.

Reason I ask is because when I bought this motor 10 years ago it had transparent pipes inside but they all split within a year I’m guessing due to age. As a quick fix I then replaced them with pieces of my old black rubber fuel line from my main tank. I’ve just seen a YouTube video of a guy who has nice blue clear ones with a clear fuel filter that I’m fancying fitting. Seems like it would be a benefit to see the fuel and/or air if present through the pipes either while priming up or testing the motor, than working blind as I am now.

your motor came with proper fuel lines and not clear lines

the clear lines fail in short order

get the proper fuel line by part number for your motor. also, get the proper fuel clamps

the clear blue lines are ok for a weed whacker motor and not an outboard, however they fail on there too
