I have a '96 40hp Force and would like to change the lower unit lube. I see only (2) screws located on the lower unit. (1) is stamped "VENT" and the lower is not stamped. Am I missing something?? Other motors discussed sometimes indicate (3) screws. I don't want to remove the wrong screw and dissassemble anything!!

Look on the very bottom of the lower unit, in back of the skeg, there should be a small allen screw there that you need to remove to let the oil drain. This screw is usually hard to get out, make sure you've got a good allen wrench or you will strip it. Open up the fill and drain slotted screws then take the allen screw out and drain the oil. Put the allen back in then put the oil in through the fill hole till it starts running out the vent hole. Make sure the motor is tilted all the way down before filling it.

If your going to keep this motor and maintain it <br /> a manual is a must. There is a tab at the top of the page or the library,NAPA,amazon.com,EBAY, etc.

I have an '88 85HP Force. What oil is recommended for the lower unit? Can't find any suggestion in the Seloc manual. And what capacity?
