40HP Johnson No spark

I have a model 40E76-A with no spark on either cylinder. All of the wiring was a mess when I got it. I have a schematic, and have repaired numerous wires that had broken. Good continuity on those wires now. Can I check the output of the magneto coil with a Digital Meter, and if so, what value am I looking for?

Welcome to iboats.<br />The ignition system can be checked with a DVOM but to do it right, you'll need a DVA and a repair manual. The generic manuals are good for general repairs but for what you are wanting, I'd get the oem manual for your particular engine.
