40hp Mariner

I can't seem to find the year model of my 40hp Mariner outboard 676 s 00995. not sure about the 5 as it is near the rivet on the tag and partially coroded. I've checked heaps of threads and havn't had much luck. Any help would be appreciated. ps its a 2 cyl 4 stroke single carb made in Japan.

It is one of the first mariners built by yamaha - 1977.

what by what???

How many mutt (cross-breed) outboards are there? I have a Force by Mercury, and a Yamaha by Yamaha - I think anyway.

"Sigh of relief" Thanks for the reply. Now I can get some parts it needs. You'd think they would put that on the engine tag to make it easier.
