More problems with 2000 40hp tracker. it would only run at idle speed so I replaced the throttle cable thaught the problem was fixed ran good on the muffs. When I put it in the water and tried to back it off the trailer it wouldn't move and would stall unless I put it back in neutral.

Could this be a fuel system problem also fuel is leaking out of carbs I think

anyone with any Ideas of what this problem could be I would appreciate some info thanks

First check all cyls. for spark and if OK, clean the carbs

Re: 40hp no power under load

Thanks Laddies

I Finally had a second to look at it I have spark on all plugs but the top three had a little carbon deposits on them and the bottom one is bone dry even a bit sticky. when the boat is on the water it gets no power in foward or reverse and it leaks fuel from mainly thr bottom carb.

Is the float stuck closed/open any ideas would be greatly appreciated

The inlet or float is giving you the problem, might just as well clean both carbs.

Thanks laddies

Does that sound like a feasible cause for the problem the float ? whats the easiest way to tell if that is the problem?

It's more likely to be a bad inlet than float, you will have to remove the carb and clean it.
