86 merc. 45hp 4cyl. book says this has a type "V" ignition system.
looked in the manual under timing and sinc, but could not find any information on the following.
I removded the carbs for rebuild, what I did not due, was look at the adjustment mecanism on the top of the top carb., before I removed the adjustable arm, to see what the spacing was between the cam and the fork like mecanism that advances the throttle plate rod as you advance the throttle.
I can see that as you advance the throttle, it will advance the spark before the carb. throttle plate rods start to move.
their is a screw and slotted mecanism on the top carb that would allow for more or less spark advance before the carbs kick in.
question is,>>if any of this makes sence>> what is the proper proceedure for this adjustment??/
thanks
