My original voltage regulator went up in smoke last year in August. I investigated the options and decided to go with the the Outdoor Motorsports conversion kit sold by Breezeworks in FL. It was fairly easy to install I thought. However, when I started to run it (the following year as I only recreational boat June - August) the belt would throw easily and the voltage regulation was all over. On a closer look at the installation the alignment of the alternator belt pulley was way off from the motor crank. Correcting this was not easy. I contacted Breezeworks and they offered no support but to call OEM of the kit. The Outdoor Motorsports person was also no real help. I did come up with a solution myself for the mounting- but it is not the best. Then after a few more outings I knew the alternator was not regulating correctly. I removed the alternator and took it to a local repair facility. They fixed the alternator and told me it had the wrong regulator in the alternator for the wiring in the instructions- $70 more dollars later I finally had it working correctly. I contacted Breezeworks and Outdoor Motorsports several times and got nothing but lip service.
