I have looked around and see parts breakdowns for that distributor, but no listing for the fly weights and springs....odd! try pinging Bondo or achris, either one might know....

First I don't know if iBoats sells the parts. Second, competitors are still competitors whether we sell or don't sell the parts.

I looked it up in an OMC parts manual! Found them on another site I can’t post it here but they were still available so I picked up a set of springs, new point plate etc. I also picked up a spare Prestolite for my 4.3... eBay....
I have Mercruiser (19414A2) and Sierra (18-26111-1) part numbers for the distributor but I can't find any additional information about parts for either. Is there a Pentronics P/N or is there a Prestolite equivilent?

I ordered a Distributor Advanced Curve Kit that was for GM HEI distributors... it was $9 and the weights and springs looked like mine in the picture (which I admit is not a very scientific way to choose replacement parts). I received it today and all components looked very similar to the parts in my distributor. I went ahead and replaced my advance springs with the most-similar set that came with the kit.

After putting the distributor back together I fired it up, checked that the initial timing was still good and then measured the advance at 500 rpm increments up through 4500 rpm. With the new springs the timing advanced a little more slowly than specification but flatted out right on spec at about 28 degrees. It had previously climbed past 45 degrees at 4500 rpm.

I'm going to keep my fingers crossed and see how it does on the water this weekend. I'm optimistic!

Thanks all for your thoughtful feedback. I'll post an update as soon as possible.

Try 19514a2
Thanks but I think that's a 6-cyl. 19414A2, is the four cylinder for the 3.7l 165

It just amazes me that there doesn't seem to be a parts-level breakdown for any of these distributors. I would think this spring thing on the older distributors would be a pretty common issue. I think I found a set of springs that will work for me so I've got my fingers crossed!

Thanks so much for your help!

The HEI springs are too long for a prestolite dizzy. You may wsnt to check your part number again
