470 ignition timing

I have twin 470's and have read a bulletin that the timing should be set at 4deg instead of 8, could you guys verify what the timing should be set at ( the bulletin was from mercruiser 87-17 11/87

Go with the 4. Helps with vaporlocking, dieseling, and detonation. Also helps prevent blown head gaskets.
