470 keeps on cranking

hello my friend has a regal with twins 470 s he was driving the other day when he herd a noise , coming from the engine compartment.

the engine shut down, but the starter still cranking over with the key switch off.

we have to turn the battery switch to of,f and limp home on one engine.

both engine has its own battery switch.

problem at hand if we put the battery switck on the engine start cranking without the key switch even been touch.

so n what could be the problem guys.

Could be a bad solenoid, the starter pinion gear stuck, a bad ignition switch, or a short.

i will rulu out the key switch. i install a back up one from my boat and it still do the same thing, thanks.
