470 mercruiser engines 1979 to 1980

the boat im interested in buying has twin 470 mercruiser engines 4 cylinders,what are the lows and highs on these engines,any idea on the outdrives bolted to them.engines are said to have 600 hours on them.my question is are they durable.ford or chevys.should i stay away from them.the boat is around 25.5 feet.<br /> Thanks mwayne

These will have the "R" drive which are very good. The 470 is not my favorite engine due to certain problems. Look at my link and read so you know what you WILL encounter.<br /><br /> web page
