Hi all. I am trying to help a senior high student with his class project, we are trying to put a 470 in a pulling lawn tractor. What type of a flywheel @ bellhousing should we look for ? Any ideas would be a great help. Thanks Gary

Re: 470 mercruiser

Your biggest problem, is the 470 is a Mercruiser MARINE (MCM) engine. Designed by Mercruiser for use in marine applications only. It's a MCM bellhousing for their engine. You aren't going to find alternate bellhousings, flywheels, ignition systems, alternated cooling systems, or anything else for those engines. They are only marine.
Engines like the 3.0L Chevy 4 cylinder engines have all types of applications in industrial use, EARLY automotive, forklifts, etc.
I understand why you would want to use that engine in your pulling tractor, lots of torque, but no choice of part options.
Since this really has nothing to do with a marine application, I'm going to move it over to the Non Boating Tech Topics, who knows, maybe someone has some information as to making parts for what you need.
