470 Mercruiser

I am trying to find a good site that has parts for this motor. I am looking for a radiator cap and can't find one. Will a automotive one do.<br /><br />Also what is a normal oil pressure at idle speed?<br /><br />Thanks.

A 14psi automotive cap will work. Usually, the oil pressure is between 20 and 40 psi at idle.<br />Here is one place to find parts.<br /> dougrussell.com<br /><br />Also, if you are planning on doing repaires on your own engine and drive, get a manual.<br /> Merc Manuals

I bought a 14 psi automotive cap and it leaked like a sieve. I thought maybe it had to be a special type. At the dougrussel web site it show it comes in three parts.??

Some automotive caps won't work, wrong length. Not knowing what the serial number or even a year for your engine makes it hard to give any specific information.<br />Find your local Mercruiser dealer and get a 36-55143Q cap, and it will work. They only cost less than 6 bucks.
