Re: 470 shift bracket

Shift bracket and interrupt switch are completely independent of the trim pump. The old (pre 1982) systems had a 'reverse lock valve' attached to the shift lever. If you are replacing the old Prestolite pump with a new Oildyne, then just run the hoses to not include the reverse lock valve.

Re: 470 shift bracket

thanks, yes i know that.i do have the old system.the switch is busted up and seems all i can buy is the whole bracket, the transom is where the old system is. this is what iv read(The models listed following have the Shift Interrupt Switch mounted either on the Transom
Plate or on a shift plate assembly attached at the top of the inner transom plate, with the
hydraulic reverse lock valve assembly. An alternate location will have to be selected for
mounting the replacement Shift Plate Kit.)
so i need to find out where to mount the new shift plate.

Re: 470 shift bracket

The main restriction on the new location with be that the shift cables can reach the plate without hard bends... Could you mount the new plate on top the the old old?
