470 temp question

What is the normal operating temperature for a 1988 165 hp 470? It runs around 190 on a 96deg day and the lake water is like a bathtub. I am about to do the raw water impeller but I would like to know where it is suppose to be.

Mine ran 164 on the coolant fill tank, and about 135 on the exhaust elbow. Also clean the heat exchanger each year. You can use a chemical flush only AFTER you disconnect it from the engine. No need to put chemicals into the leak prone cam seals!!!

165 to 200 F according to the "book".
