48 SPL Manual Tilt/Trim Not Working

I can no longer lift my Johnson 1996 48 SPL from inside the boat. I can lift it outside the boat but that doesn't help when on the water. From some of the information I have been able to obtain the manual tilt cylinder cannot be repaired, it needs to be replaced. Is this correct?

Also, can anyone tell me if replacing the cylinder is something that I can do and what the general procedure would be?

Finally, I have looked around a various sites and cannot locate the manual lift cylinder. Any suggestions on where I could locate one to purchase would be greatly appreciated.
