Best bet is to trailer it or take the block to a engine machine shop and have them do it or hack saw! not advisable but possible. Iam sure the 3.0 is compatable to many years do a search here and Iam aure something will turn up. Good luck and welcome aboard

they might be screw in so you might need a stud wrench.

as a mechanic you know that the studs are just pressed in. they may or may not be cross pined. but you can fab up a puller to get them out. then the problem is getting the new ones back in. for that you need a big press. and the head need to be off the block. So the best thing is to take it off and take it to the machine shop you use and have them do it. save alot of time and hardache.

The serial number for that engine is on the side of the block just above the starter motor. There are a couple of sites on the Internet where you can check the serial against the year. I have a 1969 Starcraft Chieftain with the 140 HP engine. It is a 181 CID GM motor so look under that heading for the year against your serial number.

I should have said we own a machine shop. How much of the stud is still above the metal? If flush or below then drill a small hole in the stud, use an easy out to screw it out. If it is enough to grab then use locking grips. I don't believe they are pressed in as most studs have a thread so you can remove them.

Thanks for all the help. I guess I'll take the head off and take it to a machine shop. I only paid $50 for the thing YEP the whole boat and trailer. so a little investment wont hurt.
