I may get thrown to the wolves here.
Im a new owner of a 4 HP Chrysler model #42H9F which is a 1979.
I know nothing at all about this motor as it was given to me. I have always owned inboards so I am new to the outboard thing. I have put it on my 14' flatbottom boat and put in gas with a mixture of 50:1 and it started on the second pull and purred like a kitten.
I noticed that the back of it where the tilt is, the rod through it is gone. No big deal there as I am going to make a rod to fit and hold it.
There is a knob there close to it as well that turns and it also has a grease fitting. What is this and does the knob need to be tight or not.
Also where can I find another gas cap with a float in it since the gas tank is on top.
Also there is no reverse that I can find. Except for the fact you can turn the motor around 360 degrees.
Is there anything I should learn or know about this motor.
Thanks for your time.
Eric
