4HP Evinrude, is this the correct year?

Hey BB...A friend gave me a 4 HP Evinrude. The number on it is 4936B-E04789. Docktalk shows this as a '69 model. Does this sound right? I haven't tried starting the motor yet as I just got it. I'm told it may have a water pump problem but the guy who gave it to me isn't sure because it hasen't been started in years. What should I do first? The motor looks to be in really good shape. Also, what fuel mix to use? Thanks, all responses greatly appreciated.

Hi Bayouman<br />Yes, your motor is a 1969. It runs 50:1 mix. The first thing I would do is obtain a servie manual. An after market manual covering many models and years should do fine. They don't cost much and save a lot of head aches. You might find a copy at your public library. If it were mine I would give it a full service. The water pump is a standard service item. The empeller should be changed out every couple years weather you use the motor or not.Good luck.
