I really need some good advice on how fix the issue that is described in the title. My boat is a 2007 bayliner with a carbureted 5.0 mercruiser and a Aplha 1 drive. When the boat was put in the water in the spring the boat was sluggish when taking off and has never been able to reach high rpm's 4500-5000. The boat basically stop accelerating and get stuck at 2000-3000 rpm's. Below is a list of things that I have already done to fix this issue.
1.Checked the gas tank vent.
2. Bought new gas and ran the motor from an different tank of new fuel.
3. Replaced the fuel water separator filter
4. Tested the fuel pump pressure. Pump reached about 8psi
5. Rebuilt and soaked the carburetor. During the rebuild the carburetor look very clean. Replace the fuel filter on the carburetor. The old one looked perfect.
6. Removed the thunderbolt ignition and replaced it with a AC Delco voyager ignition. All brand new parts. Base timing set @ 10tdc.
At this point I do not know what else to do. Please help. Thanks,
