Anyone got a procedure for testing/setting up electric automatic choke on 2002 m/c 5.0 litre carburated?
So far it seems like choke only gets power when engine actually running NOT when key is on eng off. Guess this is as it should be I wonder where it gets the signal?Fuel pressure?
Choke seems real slow to back off wondering if its defective would be able to tell if I had procedure....

That is normal. The choke gets power just like the electric fuel pump does.

Just follow the choke wiring in the fuel pump wiring diagram.

Electric chokes only power when the ignition is on. further, some go through an oil pressure switch, which means the engine has to be running to power the electric choke.

Re: 5.0 choke setup

Got it figured sort of. Ran a wire from battery to choke connection waited 10 minutes nothing happened, fooled aeround a bit dissassembled choke aha no circuit there is a gasket (which looks like factory)which seemed to prevent the choke apparatus from grounding.Removed gasket and it works. I know there must be another way of completing a ground for the choke but thats where Im at right now. Thanks guys for the input and any ideas on the ground thing pls shoot.
Oh yeah when I test drove boat after "fixing" choke, the alarm stays on.Will start another post on this.
