The Only things between the secondary terminal of the Coil,+ the Sparkplug electrodes,..........

Is the Wires, Dist. Cap, Rotor,+ the Sparkplugs themselves...........

You Changed the Dist. Cap,+ Rotor..........
That leaves the Wires,+ the Sparkplugs..............

If the Coil is Firing,....... Why change that Expensive Sensor,..??..??.....It's Working.......

If you remove the HV center wire from distributor and hold it ?" from ground, you get a good blue spark while cranking?
If not, test the HV wires. Radio suppression wire is typically ~1000 ohms per inch. If yours are a lot higher, replace them.

Those sensors fail all the time. If its the original one, it lasted a long time.
They have an coating on the bottom them, basicaly an heat sink. When they get hot, they stop working or starting cutting out. They do very strange things, I had one that ran for exallactly 20mins and lost spark, wait 2mins and spark.
The new ones have an extar ground wire and a colored heat sink. When it changes color, its gotten to hot and will fail. FFYI+ Good luck getting the screws out of the sensor, if ya break one, use machine screws and nuts.:D

Re: 5.0 died?

yes I did . But I guess it wasn't enough. That is where it threw me for A loop. I originaly replaced the coil due to it being A 1996 model. And thought 11 years of service was long enough. So I had the old coil still in the boat so I just wanted to see if it would fire up and low and behold it fired right up.

I have not been impressed with Accel products over the years, but do like Borg Warner, Mallory, MSP, and Hi-Standard Blue streak.

Why don't you just troubleshoot the ignition system instead of throwing parts at it.
Here is something I found in an OEM service manual, bet it will help you too.
