1996 volvo penta 5.0 gipbycce. She hasn't run in over a decade. I've been working/learning on it for the past year. Getting ready to drop it back in the hole and fire it up. I have the outdrive off so a test tank won't work. I have somewhat low water pressure if I were to put a hose on the intake side of the raw water pump. I could also fill up a 55 gallon drum and let the same hose suck water out of the drum. Any thoughts on which way would be better? Weak water pressure direct from a hose or let the pump draw water from a large barrel? Any idea of what the flow rate is on the raw water pump at idle? Thanks in advance!

Thanks. It's still on the boat raised up and laying on 4x4s across the engine compartment. I'll be mounting it before I start it but will leave the a frame on deck until she's purring. Thanks.

Go to your local home improvement store, but 2' of 1-1/4" hose, a 3/4 to 1-1/4" hose barn adapter, 2' of 3/4 hose, and a 3/4 hose bib adaper, and 4 hose clamps. Connect one end to the raw water pump inlet, the other to your garden hose and run it on the floor
