Hi, I am new to this, but I have a issue with my Volvo 5 litre GXI in a 2011 Regal 1900 LE. When cruising at any rpm above 3000 for right around 10 min engine will all of sudden alarm and go into limp mode, pull throttle back shut off for a second restart all good, the more you do this the shorter the time frames become, the odd time the engine light will stay on.
I have a scan tool and scanned it showed a bad Crank positioning Sensor which I replaced now I get other faults main one being #12 bad intelligence device or component, plus I get miss fires almost always different cylinders. Also when checking scanner info and I see my octane is always at less then 10 sometimes on 0
But here is the weird thing we took off the big plastic air breather cover and it seemed to get better, then we took the spark arrester off and it almost never does it, spark arrester looks clean.
Thanks in advance for any help

Looking to see if anyone is having issues with their cat? I am getting alarms and engine goes into limp mode, has to be cooled right down for a couple of hours at least, then will be fine again. Scanned and always different codes. Did find right side manifold is much hotter than left side. Found water boxes to be seized inside, took apart and cleaned, seemed better but not for long. Now tried to run without internals worked good for a day, the same happened after idling for a long period of time waiting to load at the dock. Now I have bank 1 and bank 2 codes, and miss fires on cyl 3 & 5, defiantly have a bad miss, have ordered new o2 sensors not here yet.
Thanks for any help or info

Probably not a Regal problem, its a motor problem, should be in the correct I/O forum

JB might be 2 different boats. The CATs didn't start till 2014 for Merc, assume VP would be similar

What codes are you getting?
I almost always get different codes, right now bank 1 and bank 2 codes, Plus I always get #12 bad intelligence device or component, plus I get miss fires almost always different cylinders. If I move the pre 02 sensors it seems to follow, but the miss on cyl 3 and 5 does not change, compression and plugs are good
Boat will not get on step now, so what ever is happening its getting worse, hopefully 02 sensors will be here soon and I can try that.

Sorry reading this I see I did not explain, before would always get different cylinder miss codes, now I have a constant miss on cyl 3 & 5

My Diz cap failing would show miss fire faults when it was starting to give in. You may have a control voltage issue too though. I’d test for 5v at all the crucial locations
