Good day, I have a 20ft searay with a carb 5.0 and 1.65 gear ratio, runnning a chipped 14x19 pitch and was wondering if a quicksilver laser 11, 21 pitch would be too much for my boat? I get 46mph right now but my tach isnt spot on

might be a bit much. my 19' searay had a 15x19 solas and I could hit 50. I tried a 21 pitch and the motor fell on its face.

Might want to get that tach looked at and find a good prop shop first. Take some readings then post back up with your performance goals and will probably get better help. Good luck.

I use a 21" on a 19' Four Winns Sundowner with no problems. Same engine setup as you. I tried a 23 for the heck of it and it wouldn't pass 4500 rpm and lost a couple mph. I didn't notice much difference in top speed between the 19 and 21, so now I just stick with the 19".

the 21 will work OK but it might put your rpm at the low end of the range like others have mentioned. My neighbor had a 21' SeaRay about 3500 lbs with 5.0/260hp and he ran a 21 and it was slow to plane - I always thought a 19 would have been better.

I figured i might be able to get away with a 21 where i just added smart tabs that makes the boat effortless to get up on plane now

I have a 19' searay 190 with the 898 5.0. When I bought the boat it had a generic 21 pitch stainless prop on it. Ran at 44MPH on GPS at 4100 rpm. It also came with a well chewed 19pitch aluminum prop as a spare. One day I swapped them. The 21 was better out of the hole, but the 19 ran 47MPH at 4300 rpm. I bought a new 19 and never looked back.
