Hello!

I have a 2003, volvo penta 5.0gl-D

I have replaced the impeller and thermostat.
I confirmed the temperature with a heat gun, I'm confident it's not the gauge or sensors.

However, it is still overheating. I can run it good on plain for 5 minutes and it'll be fine temperature wise, but most of the time if I trim up to high or make a turn it'll overheat. I don't know if something is clogged, or maybe an air leak?

This just started happening after I winterized it. Sometimes it overheats idle, sometimes when at high RPM.

This problem is driving me crazy, is there any where I can start looking for a clog?

Also, when it does get hot, it'll cool off super fast if the trim is set right or low to mid speeds it seems like

Sounds like you are losing cooling water from the drive when you trim up. Check your boot or the hose from the intake to the circulation pump. It may be getting pinched when you trim up.

I had an odd overheat issue once and it turned out to be a cracked plastic fitting at the gimbal housing / transom.
