5.0L EFI Merc Fuel Pump Number?????

2004 Merc 5.0L EFI (Engine serial # OWO18920)

Pulled off the LP fuel pump today (lacking power, and the pump sounds bad) and went to the boat shop to get a new one. The number on the pump is 861155-4 and below that is the number 0754A. This number doesn't seem to match any part available anywhere. The pump I took out looks just like the one at the website link below (part # 861155A 6):



According to the website, the 861155A 6 pump is for the 4.3L but mine is the 5.0L.

According to the website, pump 861155A 3 is for the 5.0L but it doesn't look like what I have in there now and it doesn't have the parts necessary to fit into the bracket that holds the pump I have now.

The only parts store here has one that looks exactly like what I took off, but the parts guy says it's not the right part for that boat, and he doesn't have the correct part #, and isn't 100% sure the one he can order will fit.

Is there a better website for partfinding?
Anybody else encountered this?
Who do I ask???
What do I do??????

Select the 'Med/Heavy Duty/Marine' tab.
Select your 'Make' (Mine is Mercury Marine)
Select your engine.
It will show your the Airtex pump part number you need, then search and find the best price!

Since you have a bravo engine you should have two fuel pumps going by your engine serial number.

You should have a low psi boost pump (861155A3) right before the fuel filter, Also you should have a high psi fuel pump (861156A1) way down under the exhaust on the port side.

FYI, Part number 861156A1 is FNLA (No Longer Available), Your merc dealer will need to reference service bulletin MCM SB 2004-05.

Great info FunTimes, thank you very much for sharing your know-how. Got the right part ordered (with the help of a Honda dealer here in town) and I should have it tomorrow or the next day and hopefully be back up and running at more than 10 mph!

Sounds like you've done this job before....... If it ends up being the second pump, is that pump/cooler kit a really tough replacement? Remove the exhaust risers? Manifolds? Whole Engine?????
