Hello folks,
I have a 1993,Searay 22OV with a Mercruiser 5.0LX.The boat is in great shape with only 325 hours when I bought it last Labor Day weekend. It had a hesitation at take off when I first purchased it. I had it repaired with a new accelerator pump and carb rebuild. The boat then has had a pop and skip on takeoff when giving it WOT from dead stop, and from 25mph.I brought it back, got charged for another accelerator pump, AND a lake test. The carb is a Rochester Quadrajet...Is it time for a new Carb ? Should I bolt a Holley 4 barrell on it ? Or stay with the Rochester ?
Need some help here guys..

Kinda sounds like your secondary's are opening to soon. They are adjustable, If you got a service manual It's easy to do. You need a small Allen wrench and a very small flat screwdriver. On the starboard side on the carb is the set screw but it's up under the top cover i use a mirror to see the set screw. loosen the set, turn flat clockwise (not very much) a 1/8th is a alot!. just keep at, make a adjustment, and do a hole shot till you find the sweet spot.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,... The Edlebrock performer series is a Carbon Copy of the Merc/ Weber that's now used on Merc's,...

That means factory brackets fit,...

Holley isn't a preferred carb by Merc,... only used on Fords in the 70s, 'n some Race motors,...

WELL,
I sure hope it fits and does the trick, I just ordered an Edelbrock 1409 performer series. I guess I have little hope and patience for the Quadrajunk folks around here call it.I sure hope the 600 cfm is a match for this 5.0lx.....I myself always was told the Rochester was the best carb out there for the Mercruiser.

I had a similar issue on my 4.3L v6. I replaced my ignition system with the EST system from Delco and it no longer does it.
