looking for a little direction on how to fix this problem I have a 1988 four wins 235 sundowner with a 5.7 litre 350 motor in it, it has new wires cap and points that were just put in and it runs smooth at lower rpm's but when I push the throttle beyond 4000 rpm's the boat starts missing and popping real bad what else can I change out to try to get it to run smooth at higher rpm's any and all advice is greatly appreciated so please help me!!!

Who did the wires and points? Sounds like it could be a timing issue.

Any possibility of water in the gas?

thank you for the response I am going to check the timing tomorrow morning and hopefully that's it and as far as water in the gas I just filled it up with fresh gas so I doubt that's the problem but then again you never know should I check the fuel separator?
