I have a 28' SEA SPORT walk around and this boat has always been under powered. This summer the boat started losing power to the point it would no longer run properly after having it looked at they found the 2000 5.7 GS to have leak down. The boat is in great shape and I dont have the money to buy a new one so I decided to replace the engine. JEGS has two motors one is 365HP/400LB 355 and the other is 405HP/450LB 383. My drive is a VOLVO DP and the boat weighs 8000lb. What motor should I install and would I need to install new props ( I just replaced the props this year). I have full specs if you need anything else. Thank you for any help or your thoughts.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.... The 355 motor is basically a .030 over-bored reman of the same motor ya started with,...
It'll be 'bout the same power as ya had, only Fresher,...

I'd go with the 383, as it's a ,030" over-bored 350 block, with a Longer stroke crankshaft,...
It'll give ya Waayyy more torque, down low where ya need it, as well as higher hp, up higher,.....

Whether it'll need new props or not, I donno,...
You could always, just Not firewall the throttle, til new props are in the budget,...

Also, I deleted yer double post,...
If ya surf with yer "Back-button",...Hit the Refresh button after, to see yer post,....

I agree with Bondo, get the 383. However vs buying a crate motor, I believe in having the motor built locally by a reputable machine shop.

Do you guys know if my stock exhaust will handle this motor. I think my stock motor is 260HP. If I had to I could change out the manifolds and risers to stainless steel but can I exhaust out of the VOLVO DP drive.
