5.7 gi-b loss of power wont go over 3000 rpms

i have 2002 volvo penta 5.7 gi-b ser no.4012059018 the problem im having icant get it to go over 3000 rpms on the water things ive checked feul presure 52 psi but when i start engine needle bounces off 100 removed fuel filter check fuel for water none any help would be appreciated

52 lbs fuel pressure??? is this a TBI motor or mpi??? You engine is more than probably in S.L.O.W. mode...You will need a scan tool here is a link to trouble shooting

From the stickies under Volvo information. Look at item #14. It shows MPI and the Pressure is fine

Do you mean the fuel pump pressure is over 100? If so, follow the procedures starting at 11.

There is also a warning in the manual that anything over 75 psi can damage the fuel pump pressure regulator.

with to key on feul pressure 52 psi when i start the engine the needle pegs at100 psi is that normal ? or should it stay about the same

ok did like you said than i took feul pumps apart cleaned screens put in new orings took boat out run great but after about an hour or so when i throttled up and hit around 2400 rpms it would pop thru manifold i shut boat off and it would not start inless i gave it about 3/4 throttle and it would make pop and then start sensor mabe ? boat started right up after setting awile but whould repeat same systoms

Go back through the tests again and make sure things didn't clog back up.
