I have a 1994 Crownline 196BR with a Volvo 5.7 GI with a "DP" stern drive and through hull exhaust. It starts and runs/idles great with the drive and trim all the way up. When I lower the drive and trim, it stalls. It will not start with the drive down. If I raise it all the way back up, it fires right up and will idle great. Why is it doing this? I can't figure it out!!!! This is in neutral and/or in gear.

Your trim sending unit is pluged into the shift interrupt?

~~Hard to describe when I don’t know what engine and drive you have, if you post a serial number I can look for a picture.

~~You have a DP-C1 outdrive and a DP-S transom shield. So I don’t think that setup had provisions for shift interrupt if it was used as a MerCruiser Alpha replacement.
Maybe you can watch in the engine compartment while somebody raises and lowers the drive to see if wires are moving?
