Before i hooked up the drive i took a hose to the water inlet hose on the outside of the transom shield and it worked great, good flow no temp issues. Today i ran it on muffs with the DP-A, i even taped the muffs for a good seal but they leaked a bit, my hose isnt the most powerful but it didnt get any water coming out the exhaust. I replaced the water inlet pipe on the drive as well when i reinstalled it. Engine is closed cooling, could this be air, or not enough pressure, i dont think its he impeller since it was good several days ago

You may not have enough water pressure. It takes a really good flow of water on muffs to get water to the pump instead of just a bunch of air. Did you plug the hole in the bottom of the drives bullet? It's a secondary pickup when the boat is in the water, but it's big enough with a weak hose to loose enough water so the pump won't prime.

well today i pulled the impeller and it is shot..well it was pretty hard and cracked as well as had 5 missing fins, so i assume that was the problem. however im not sure hich impeller to buy. the style my motor uses isnt on the crankshaft..its off to the side on a pulley

I'm not sure about the pump and impeller, but I would try to find some of that old impeller downstream from the pump housing. those pieces could give you headaches for years to come.

Agreed on trying to fine every single piece of the impeller. Pull the hoses and verify what comes out. Don't forget to check the thermostat.

Also this is my first impeller install. What should it be lubed with to prevent a dry start

The kit comes with a tube of what looks like KY jelly.
