5.7 GXI rev-limit at 4K RPM

in neutral, if I WOT it will bounce back at 4K RPM over and over. Any suggestions on what to check?

I noticed this after a few long hauls, the engine would creep up to 4K, stay there, and only give me about 28 MPH. seemed fishy so I tried it in neutral. Something's up...

My 5.7 GXi-F does the same thing in neutral. A lot of GM engines have this in the ecu, to prevent overrev in neutral. I doubt that is the cause unless you can pull a code that will tell you something (rinda codemate may help). i'd start w/ Don S. low WOT sticky tho...
