Hello I just purchased a 2000 Bayliner 2050 with a 5.7 mercruiser in it. I purchased it from a couple who had it rebuilt for around 3000 and decided to sell it because they just didn't use it. The engine had around 10 hours after the rebuild when I bought it and I took it out. After my first full day on the water I noticed the oil pressure was lower than normal and checked the oil and added because it needed some. After that o brought it straight back to the launch and when I pulled the plug oil came out.

I cleaned the engine compartment and ran it at 30 for about a hour, oil pressure stayed at 40 the entire time and trailered it. Once again I had oil collecting but I noticed it seems like it's comming from the right side valve cover (looking from back to front) from only the back of the cover. The front is dry but the rear of it (twards outdrive) has signs of oil leakage as you can follow the black line down where it hits the starter than then bottom of the boat. Has anyone ever dealt with this and if so what are some options. I'd prefer not to work on it myself but do have the knowlege.

I cannot post the video but this is what the back of the cover actually looks like. I lost about half a quart to a quart an hour but it doesn't not leak when the engines not running (obviously if it's the valve cover)

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... I guess I'd see if the valve cover bolts are tight,...... or not,.....

If not, tighten 'em, say 'bout 15ft.lbs,.....

If it still leaks, pull the valve cover, 'n see why,.....
