I have a 1997 Bayliner 2050 with a Mercruiser 5.7 (210hp 2bbl carb). The motor will start cold if you pump it 3-4 times and throttle it up. When you put it into neutral it will die 4 out of 5 times, regardless of if it is warmed up or not. Once I am able to get it into drive it seems to run fine, but it doesn't top out like it use to. It will hit 32mph and it will not go any faster. No sputter or hesitation, but just keep that speed. If I shut it off and try to restart it I have to pump it numerous times and crank it for 15 to 20 seconds. It seems to be progressively getting worse. I would like to check a few things before I take it to the shop, just to make sure it isn't something simple. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
