5.7 Mercruiser water in every cylinder

I have a 1928 28 foot chistcraft. The starburn engine despite being fully rebuilt and having new risers and exhaust manifolds gets water into every cylinder. It runs great when you first put it in the water but when you shut it off for a few bam water so if anyone could give me any tips I really don't want to buy another engine. Also this engine does not have flappers

Twin engines and only the starboard motor gets water in cylinders

I would like to see pics of the motors, both of them

You will need a few more post before being able to unload pics, so tells us more about the boat. What was there and assuming are restoration

Just the starburn side engine every cylinder on it it has a used block that was fully gone through ,new exhaust manifolds, gone through heads and new risers. Engine was fully rebuilt only things we diddnt change from original are heads and intake manifold

Might be the issue. If the intake was not magnafluxed of pressure tested, it might have a crack

Original configurarion has a spacer from exhaust manifold to riser so its not that the other engine is the same way. Just ordered a new intake manifold hopefully that will be it one of the only things not changed if that isnt it just gonna buy a reverse running long block about done with this engine
