Have a engine serial number?
Is this a new to you boat, or is this a new issue?
Being a TBV, did you put the motor in base timing to set timing?
What are the cylinder compression numbers?

The ser number is 0k168818. Yes i put in bass mode but as i said ther is not a timing mark to set it buy. Judt a tdc notch. I have not checked the compsion but it ran ok then we stoped for a hour and it would not get in a plane. It takes 3000 rpm to get in a plane normaly will reach 3200 wot to make plane now it will only make 2300

Either need timing tape or an advance timing light to set

normaly will reach 3200 wot

Your WOT should be 4400-4800 so your lugging the motor with it only able to get 3200 (hope you meant 4200). Lugging the motor will damage it over time and what your seeing now might be the out come.

thanks I had cleaned and marked timing marks on the pully and built a pointer out of a coat hanger. but to get a real tdc I will need a piston stop..i orderd I timing tape to day and I will make a better pointer when it gets here. put looks like adv abought to 15 at idle with base wire un hooked drops down to 10 with it hooked . with out tne base wire hooked I can not tale the timing is adv with rpms.what should I check next

Your timing cover does not have a single marker?

On the 3200 rpm that is wjat it noemaly turns trying to get on plane. I picked up a advancing timing light and was able to get a better check on timming. It looks good. With the idle set too low how to round 600 timing Farm to almost 20 degrees at 7:50 it drops for 10 he's back up 20 by 1900 I'm scared to run any faster than that on the water hose with a base wire grounded old and even 10. With the motor running 1500 RPM tapping on the Block causes RPM to drop so everything appears to be working there. It could still be the timing if my gimbal bearing is going out and causing but knock sensor to read I will try the boat in the water tomorrow and see if I can get a timing reading in the water at a higher RPM any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Correct, Think of a knock sensor like a tire sensor; if the tire has low pressure the wear is increased, so if you know its low, it can be aired up. If your motor is knocking the motor will destroy it self in short order, but if its not knocking then no issue.

I will un hook it and run as soon as I can I can if it will get in a plane I will know if the problem is with this . I under stand that a bad gimbal bearing can trigger a knock sender. I had a car with a broke bearing in the transmission drove the knock sencer crazy
