5.7GSi starts but will not stay running

Hello,
I am working on a 5.7GSi Volvo motor. The motor has just been replaced and we are having issues with it starting and then quitting after about 15-20 seconds. The last owner had plugged manifolds and heated up the motor to a point where he lost two cylinders, hence the new motor. What's funny is that I can put 10"of vacuum on the MAP sensor and the motor will run all day, but as soon as I pull off the vacuum off and plug in the vacuum hose from the back of the TBI it stalls out and dies. With the vacuum on the map sensor I have the timing set, new low and high pressure fuel pumps, f/w sep, and I have it running on a good fuel source. Testing of the systems showed the MAP sensor is fine, fuel pressure regulator is fine. All grounds and power ending have been cleaned and tightened. I pulled back the sheathing on the wiring harness from the ECM to the ECT and there is nothing melted or corroded or out of the ordinary. Has anyone had this issue? Or could anyone point me in a direction besides in circles. Thank you.
I seen there was another post just like this one but the guy never finished telling the story about what happened or how he fixed the problem.

I would check that you have manifold pressure at the vacuum line that goes to the MAP sensor. Is the vacuum line connected to the manifold at the other end? Is the hose connected at the correct place on the manifold. If the engine overheated, perhaps the vacuum line melted and is no longer sending the correct signal to the MAP?

Have fun

Vacuum coming from the manifold is 15" and is hooked up per the manual.

:welcome: to iboats

Engine won't idle, I'm thinking your IAC could be the issue
