Can I get some insights on a Carb reccomendation for my 5.7. It is a 300 horse repower, and I am running the original weber off my 350 Mag. should I look rebuilding this one, or would the 1409 be enough Carb for this application?

Thanks

Rebuild what you got, it'll be cheaper.

Thought the carb off the 350 Mag was a 750 CFM, no? I'll probally look into having it rebuilt if I can find someone good locally around me. Thanks for the help.

A 1409 is a 600cfm marine version Edelbrock with electric choke.

Edelbrock are clones of Carter AFB's NOT Webers

If your Weber is worn out it is a big waste of time to rebuild it WITHOUT replacing the throttle shaft bushings. They will leak air into the mix and cause your a/f to go lean.

I would go with the 1409. It is plenty of carb for your 350 and they are very easy to tune and there are zero gaskets below the fuel level within the carb! I ran the 1406 on my 1979 350 chevy pickup for years with no problems with it at all. Parts are relatively cheap and you can even change out jets/metering rods without removing the carb. It takes 5 minutes to change out metering rods...if that. The carb is designed for quick changeout of jets and metering rods just for the auto racing community and it is very well thought out.
