50 force drive shaft broke

Hi skimmed a rock today and my drive shaft has broke in head would any1 no easyest way to get it out and were i would get one thanks jason

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. I would say that you would probably have to take the power head off of the gear case leg. I'm sure if you took it to a machine shop, they would be able to get it out. Hopefully the crankshaft is OK. As far as a replacement, auction sites for used Force parts. Look for a complete gear case. That would most likely be your best bet. Or sell it for parts and get another motor.

Thanks mate i have gear case of and drive shaft out just to get other bit out. would i be able to take the upper exhaust housing of and get it that way every thing looks ok is thre any way to test crank shaft , i seen a drive shaft on ebay bout dnt no the year of my engine its 88 would it still do it theres few years between them..

If it's twisted or bent any it will be tough getting out.
Try a magnet on a stick.
If that doesn't work then a head removal is needed.
Then drill a hole, tap it and then use a slide hammer.

They can be difficult to get out but before you go with esoteric remedies, try setting the engine vertical and tapping firmly on the crankshaft nut. Use an aluminum or brass block to actually hammer on so you don't **** up the threads. If it does come out, it will be a splined piece about 1 1/2 inches long--you won't miss it on the ground.

Since they almost always break cleanly, If the splined piece doesn't come out, try a long rod with some super glue on the end.

Thanks a million fell out when toped with a hammer could any tell me the year of mine its us marine 507x8d and serial is 1001

Well I guess you could look at that as something positive! Looks like it's a 1988 50HP.
