This is a 12 year old 5o Force never used until 2 years ago(never in the water for 10 years). It has only been used 5-6 times in the last 2 years. This is the first time I uncovered it this year. I wasn't paying attention and hooked up the battery cables wrong. Put one of the black wires on the positive side. Tried to start the motor a few times. Did I fry something?? I just did the hold the plug to the motor spark test and saw no sparks. Starter is working fine.

Uhhhhhhhhh-o. If it were a mercury or mariner I'd say there's a serious possibility of burning out a switchbox and/or rectifier... powerpack, that sort of thing. I don't know what Chryslers have or what it is called but I'd say you need to check your ignition system part by part. If you have a manual you should have instructions on how to do this. There is a possibility you have a fuse in the system somewhere. Look for one. YOu might be surprized (hopefully). I did the same thing to a 1972 Mariner 115 because I was stupid enough to hook up a battery in the dark. I still have got to check it out to see where the problem is.

Thanks Captn. I did find a circuit breaker so I will replace that and let you know. The wires came to a round part straight from the battery, I will ask, get that checked or replace it too when I get the other part. Again thanks for the help.

your 50hp force should have a circut breaker under the cover and a little button on it to push and reset hope that helps
